He Spreads Contention
Today’s bit of joy comes from Proverbs 6:12-15:
A worthless and wicked person
walks around saying perverse things;
he winks with his eyes,
signals with his feet,
and points with his fingers;
he plots evil with perverse thoughts in his heart,
he spreads contention at all times.
Therefore, his disaster will come suddenly;
in an instant he will be broken, and there will be no remedy.

- What should I do about it?
- What happened in the text?
Wicked people exude evil from the mouth, eyes, feet, fingers, and mind … and pays the consequences suddenly. - What do I learn about God?
He allows wicked people to do wicked things.
He brings an end to wickedness. - What should I do about it?
“Oh be careful little mouth what you say.” I don’t recall a “be careful little feet what you signal” verse, though. I think another takeaway from this is not to worry about enforcing my own justice on wicked people, but to leave that in God’s hands. Not that I’m prone to actual vigilantism, but I certainly talk that way. Which brings me back to not saying perverse things. I’ve got a lot to learn.
